Approximately 4, 500 persons will soon be employed by for the annual Christmas Road cleaning programme.
This was among several announcements mad yesterday by Prime minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves in his Address at the 36th National Independence Parade at the Victoria Park.
Dr. Gonsalves said these persons will be employed for this short-term work programme which is to be executed at a cost of $3 million.
The Prime Minister further noted that some 150 persons are to be employed on a short term basis at the SVG Port Authority to assist with the increased activity at the port during the upcoming Christmas season.
