The Ministry of Transport, Works, Urban Development and Local Government will be hosting a ceremony next week for the official opening of three bridges and associated river defenses and roadways.

The ceremony was initially scheduled for today but has been postponed to Monday November 9th, 2015 from 3:00pm on the empty plot of land next to the building that houses the Mesopotamia District Council Office and Adult Literacy and Continuing Education Programme.

The project dubbed the “Teviot and Zenga River Defenses and Bridges Project” was designed and supervised by the Ministry of Works and constructed by R and R Construction Limited under a contract valued at one million, six hundred thousand, six hundred and forty-eight Eastern Caribbean dollars with loan funding from the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The project consists of three pedestrian bridges, with associated river defenses up-stream and down-stream of the bridges and a little more than two hundred feet of roadway at Teviot.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is expected to deliver the feature address at the opening ceremony.
