Three officers of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) are presently in the British Virgin Islands to assist with the ongoing relief efforts after the BVI suffered extensive devastation wrought by Hurricane Irma, last week.

The officers, inclusive of two Police Officers and a member of the Coast Guard, left the state on Monday.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said the officers are a part of a team organized by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

Speaking on Thursday on WEFM’s Morning Program, Dr. Gonsalves also disclosed that the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has approved an initiative by the Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) for the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) to send $1 million dollars to Antigua and $1 million to Anguilla, both of which are members of the ECCU.
