The National Emergency Organisation is expected to conduct a National Simulation Exercise this month as part of the 2019 trade winds exercise.

Speaking to WE FM News this week, Director of NEMO Michelle Forbes – indicated that Trade Winds is a predominantly military exercise lead by the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, NEMO and other local agencies.

Ms. Forbes said the aim of the exercise will be to test the volcano emergency and to mobilize communities for evacuation, in the event of a volcanic eruption.

NEMO will be from today hosting a month of activities – to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Last Eruption of La Soufriere volcano.

The activities will culminate on May 4th 2019.
