The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Center – is hosting host an exhibition as part of its education and outreach activities in schools and communities in the red volcano hazard zone.

The exhibition which is being held at the Car Park next to the Postal Corporation Building in Kingstown is expected to sensitize the public on the ‘Volcanic Emergency Evacuation’ aspect of the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Component of the Trade-winds Exercise 2019.

Speaking on WE FM’s Wake up and go morning show today, Director of the Seismic Research Centre in Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Richard Robertson said today’s exhibition is designed specifically for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Allaying fears of a possible volcanic eruption, Dr. Robertson said Volcanoes generally give signs before an eruption.

The exhibition forms part of a month of activities by NEMO – to mark the 40th anniversary since the last eruption of La Soufriere.
