Vincentians will have an opportunity to learn more about Volcanic Emergency Evacuation, community preparedness for a volcanic eruption, when the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) host a month of activities, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the from April 4th to May 4th 2019.

The activities will be officially launched during a Soufriere Blow Out Exhibition, to be held on Friday 12th April, 2019 at the car park, next to the Postal Corporation in Kingstown.

This will be followed by the annual Public Educational Field Trip to the La Soufriere Volcano, via the Leeward side of the island on Saturday 13th April 2019.

Other activities will include educational field trips and art workshops, volcano movie nights and community evacuation planning.

The activities are a collaborative effort between the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre and with support from the Soufriere Monitoring Unit, the Forestry Division and the UWI Src Volcano Ready Communities Project SVG.
