The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) is collaborating with Trade Winds Exercise 2019 to incorporate hazards that a volcanic eruption will pose.

This will take place in June as St. Vincent and the Grenadines will host the second phase of Trade Winds Exercise 2019.

According to Assistant Superintendant of Police, Junior Simmons, Trade Winds 2019 is set for June 14th to 21st, 2019.

Simmons, at the time, was addressing a gathering at the ‘Soufriere Blow Out Exhibition’ spearheaded by NEMO to commemorate Volcano Awareness Week and the 40th anniversary of the La Soufriere Volcano eruption.

Simmons noted that Trade Winds is an annual military exercise that “is sponsored by the United States Southern Command. It involves law enforcement, military and civilian personnel from the 15 Caricom member states, United States of America, Europe, Colombia, Mexico.
