An agreement for the purchase of medical equipment to be used at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, under the Japan Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project, was signed here yesterday.

Medical Director at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, Dr. Charles Woods signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Masatoshi Sato the Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan, in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, at a ceremony at the Ministry of Health Conference Room.

The equipment to be bought under the agreement includes a Bronchoscope, a Fume Cupboard, Blood Bank Equipment and Urology Equipment, all valued at ninety thousand, seven hundred and ninety two dollars and thirty one cents.

Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Luke Browne in his remarks at the ceremony, said the purchase of this equipment represents another significant step in the enhancement and modernization of the local health sector.

Meanwhile, Masatoshi Sato the Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan, in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad said his country continues to strengthen bilateral relations with St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and noted that the procurement of equipment will be of great assistance to patients at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
