The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment is hosting a week of activities from today November 25th, to Tuesday December 1st, 2015, to commemorate World AIDS Day.

World AIDS Day is a global event which takes place annually on December 1st and is dedicated to commemorate those who have passed on and to raise awareness about AIDS and the global spread of the HIV virus.

Among the activities planned include a poster competition for primary schools, a Public speaking competition for secondary schools to be held in collaboration with the Lions Club, Health District Activities, a March and Rally, a Dinner, a Panel discussion and Radio programmes and the offering of free health tests in Heritage Square on December 1st.

The objectives of the week of activities are to Promote HIV/AIDS as a serious public health problem, Show solidarity for people living with HIV/AIDS and Promote and Support Healthy living.

The activities will be held under the theme ‘Getting to ZERO’, with the local slogan ‘Supporting Positive Living Community by Community’.
