Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Raymond Ryan, says the Agriculture Ministry is committed to the global thrust to eliminate hunger and poverty at the global level.

Speaking yesterday morning at the opening of the World Food Day Exhibition held at Heritage Square Mr. Ryan said this year’s theme “Our Actions Are Our Future – a Zero Hunger World Is Possible by 2030”, is intended to bring greater awareness of these efforts to end world hunger and achieving food security.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar said it was disclosed at a CARICOM meeting in Barbados last week that St. Vincent and the Grenadines is among the largest exporters of food, within the CARICOM region.

Minister Caesar also stated that if the current trend of cocoa production here continues, this country is poised to become the largest producer of fine flavored cocoa in Caricom by the year 2025.
