Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar says his ministry is aiming to begin a programme in 2016 to cultivate 3, 000 acres of bananas.

Minister Caesar made the disclosure while speaking to reporters yesterday following a ceremony at Flow Wine Bar, where the St. Vincent Cocoa Company officially launched the first locally made chocolate bar produced by the company.

Minister Caesar also said the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with an investor from the United Kingdom to establish some 2,000 acres of coffee here.

He further noted that the Ministry of Agriculture is working on the rehabilitation of the local coconut plantations.
