Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment Luke Browne has hailed the performance of the Vincentian participants at the 2018 Carifta Games held in the Bahamas.

Speaking at a press briefing this morning held at the National Sports Council at Arnos Vale, Minister Browne said St. Vincent and the Grenadines had a good showing at the Carifta Games.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Girls Under-20 4×400 metre relay team were awarded gold medals last night at the 2018 Carifta Games.

The team comprising of Annicea Richards, Shafiqua Maloney, Tamara Woodley and Zita Vincent, completed the race in a time of 3 minutes 48.24 seconds and were awarded gold after the teams from Jamaica and The Bahamas were both disqualified.

Guyana placed second with a time of 3 minutes 54.38 seconds, while St. Kitts and Nevis was third with a time of 4 minutes 00.53 seconds.

This victory of the Girls Under-20 4×400 metre relay team comes on the heels of Handal Roban having won gold in the Under-17 male 800meter yesterday, and Alexander Joachim winning gold in the Under-17 male 200 meter breaststroke in Jamaica on Saturday night.
