Minister of Labour, Saboto Caesar along with other officials from the Department of Labour are in Barbados attending the Caribbean/Canadian Annual Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program Intergovernmental Review Meeting.

The meeting commenced on Sunday November 19 and will end on Friday November 24.

It is taking place at the Barbados Hilton.

Caribbean and Canadian officials are expected to engage in wide-ranging discussions on the successes, challenges and the way forward for the programme.

Under the programme, Vincentians and other Caribbean nationals are provided with seasonal employment on Canadian farms for periods ranging between 4 and 8 months every year.

The main objective of such annual review meetings is to bring owners of Canadian farms together with Caribbean government officials, officials of the Canadian High Commission, as well as representatives of the government of Canada into one forum for the purpose of deliberating on all issues relating to the programme so as to ensure its continuity and improvement.
