Local hoteliers are being encouraged to work more closely with the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) to take advantage of the opportunities that will become available now with the operationalization of the Argyle International Airport (AIA).

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves issued the appeal during a news conference yesterday at Cabinet Room.

Dr. Gonsalves said the Tourism Authority is continuing negotiations with international airlines to secure commitments for regular international flights into Argyle International Airport.

He said the airlines will likely need about 4-6 months before they can make this commitment, but he noted that in the meantime hoteliers can work along with the Tourism Authority to organize charters for specific events like Carnival and the Easter Regatta.
