LIAT pilots are expected to be paid this week.

This was the outcome of a meeting held on Tuesday in Barbados between the airline’s shareholder governments, the management and Unions representing its employees.

According to the Barbados Nation Newspaper, following the almost three-hour meeting at Hilton Barbados, chairman of the shareholder governments of LIAT, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, said that a directive had been sent to the respective banks to pay the pilots.

The payment came seven days after they were due their money.

“I believe that instructions have gone to the bank today for the payments and I think, depending which bank it is, some of them will get paid tomorrow, or some the next day,” Gonsalves told reporters shortly after exiting the meeting, which began just after 3pm and concluded around 6pm.
