The Barbados-based Caribbean Development Research Services (CADRES) has released the results of a political opinion poll it conducted on mainland St. Vincent ahead of the December 9th, 2015 general election.

The poll was conducted between November 20th and 22nd and involved face to face interviews being conducted with approximately 800 persons spread evenly across the 13 mainland constituencies.

Respondents were asked about some the issues of greatest concern to them and the party they are likely to vote for.

Speaking today on WEFM’s Morning programme, Political Analyst, Peter Wickham, of CADRES said the poll indicates solid support for the ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP).

In relation to which potential leader individuals would prefer to be led by, Mr. Wickham said 61% expressed a preference for incumbent Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, while 37% preferred Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace, with 2% preferring other individuals.
