Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says the issue of promotion within the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force is a matter that needs to be addressed.

Dr. Gonsalves, who is also the Minister of National Security in addressing the opening of the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) at the Peace Memorial Hall on Tuesday, said that lack of proper communication, in terms of regularly updated reports on the conduct and performance of Police Officers, is one constraint that impacts promotion.

Prime Minister Gonsalves said the possibility exist for more officers to be assigned to various posts within the Police Force, apart from the normal recruitment of Police Constables.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Colin John in his remarks at the ceremony, said that in light of Prime Minister Gonsalves comment on the issue of promotion, steps will be taken very soon to have additional vacancies at different levels within the Police Force filled.
