The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) says the year 2017 has been a good one so far, with it having seen improved levels of compliance among all tax types across the country.

Comptroller at the Inland Revenue Department, Mr. Kelvin Pompey, noted, however, that one of the main areas of concern for the department is the lack of presentation of requisite receipts to customers by some retail merchandising businesses.

Mr. Pompey is encouraging the general public to be more vigilant and to ask for and demand their receipts after carrying out transactions at business establishments.

He said there are also some concerns in relation to payment of taxes by self-employed persons.

Meanwhile, Mr. Pompey is encouraging persons to do the necessary preparatory work as the end of the year approaches so as to be compliant with their tax obligations for 2017.
