Minister of Labour, Hon. Camillo Gonsalves says any increase in the minimum wage, soberly considered and properly implemented can have a positive impact on the conditions of workers, and this nation’s overall poverty reduction thrust.

He made the comment while speaking this morning at the launch of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Wages Councils.

Minister Gonsalves further noted that minimum wages must be accompanied by feasible enforcement mechanisms.

According to Minister Gonsalves this is the 4th Wages Councils established since the Unity Labour Party (ULP) came to office in 2001.
