The inauguration of the Board for the Zero Hunger Trust Fund is slated to take place on Wednesday April 6th, 2016.
The meeting is scheduled to commence at nine in the morning and will see the coming together of persons directly associated with the Fund.
These include the Director of Planning, Laura Anthony-Browne, who will serve as Director of the Fund, and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Derry Williams who will be Chairman of the Fund’s Board.
During his Budget presentation in February, Prime Minister Gonsalves had said that said some 3,000 persons here have been identified as being in extreme poverty and susceptible to hunger.
Financing for the Zero Hunger Trust Fund will among other things come from a levy of 2% on mobile and international telephone calls, which is estimated to raise $2.7 million annually.
