A High Level Consultation on Advancing Multi – Hazard Early Warning Systems in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be convened tomorrow.

The consultation will be hosted by the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO).

During the last several months the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) with financial support from the Disaster Preparedness ECHO programme (DIP-ECHO) have been assisting NEMO in advancing the Early Warning Systems to be more holistic, robust and sustainable.

With the cooperation of various national technical experts in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and assistance from the Government of Cuba, the road map for Advancing Multi – Hazard Early Warning Systems here have been completed and will be discussed at the consultation, which takes place at Frenches House, in Kingstown, beginning at 8:30am.

The keynote address will be delivered by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, followed by three panel discussions and plenary sessions.

Other remarks will come from Ms. Michelle Forbes – Director of NEMO, Ms. Elizabeth Riley – Deputy Executive Director of CDEMA and Ms. Chisa Mikami – Resident Representative of the UNDP for Barbados and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
