A High Court judge in Guyana has sentenced four men to 81 years each in prison after they were found guilty of murdering a 72 year-old woman four year ago.

According to the Stabroek News Newspaper Justice Navendra Singh imposed the sentence on Kevin October, Roy Jacobs, and brothers Orwin and Cleon Hinds, after the jury took less than four hours to find them guilty of killing Clementine Fiedkou-Parris on June 30th, 2011.

The prosecution said the murder appeared to have been a hit and the men were paid 400,000 Guyana dollars to carry out the act. It is believed that the woman was murdered because she had refused to sell her property.

The men, who will be eligible for parole after serving 45 years, denied any involvement in the killing, with one of them saying he was in police custody at the time of the murder.
