The Guyana government says it is giving consideration to the use of tints on motor vehicles as it deals with the crime situation in the CARICOM country.

Public Security Minister Khemraj Ramjattan says he intends to have a public consultation on the issue.

Earlier, Governance Minister Raphael Trotman told a post- Cabinet press conference that Cabinet is considering a policy for tints on vehicles’ windows.

The main opposition People’s Progressive Party has called on the government to deal with the escalating crime situation and the new David Granger administration has already implemented a gun amnesty as well as maintaining its tough stance regarding the late closure of bars and night clubs.
