Construction works on the Ginger Village Road is scheduled to commence soon, after the World Bank on Friday granted approval for the disbursement of funds for the project.

The contract for the project was awarded to Dipcon Engineering in 2016 to the tune of 3.8 million dollars; however, certain conditions had to be met before the Bank disbursed the monies.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said yesterday that one of the problems faced was the matter of identifying, in accord with the regulations stipulated by the World Bank, who owns the various portions of land the government had to buy or acquire in order for the road to be realigned.

He said the road project is now slated to begin in September this year.

The Ginger Village road was badly damaged as a result of a major landslide that occurred on sections of the Viggie Highway in Belmont in September 2013.
