Although the West Indies are rated lower than Bangladesh in the ICC’s Test rankings, Jeffrey Dujon expects the home side to win the upcoming Test series.

During a recent interview on the Line and Length show Dujon, a former West Indies wicketkeeper said he believed the Windies would emerge victorious in the two-match Test series, despite the visitors being ranked eighth — one spot ahead of the home side.

However, Dujon, who worked as a commentator during the just concluded series between the West Indies and Sri Lanka, said the result of the series would come down to the type of pitches which were prepared.

The first Test match begins on Wednesday, July 4 at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium in Antigua.

Meanwhile, Athletes from Guyana who make their mark at regional and international events could soon see themselves being rewarded by the government.

Minister of Social Cohesion with responsibility for Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. George Norton has revealed that a revamped National Sports Policy has called for incentives to be paid to athletes who medal at major meets. However, he warned that it would be some time before the policy is implemented.

The move has come following a demand from athletes who represent the country to be rewarded for their excellent performances.
