Fifty Ragga and Soca Artistes have been selected from the Preliminaries to compete in the Soca Monarch Semifinals which is scheduled for Saturday June 24.

Among the notable artistes in the 25 Ragga Soca Semifinalists are: Jamarie ‘L Pank’ Stapleton; Shernelle ‘Skarpyon’ Williams; Travis ‘Wizskid’ Lynch; Hance John; Shaunelle Mc Kenzie and Lornette ‘Fya Empress’ Nedd.

One new comer is Joel ‘Dynamite’ Tyril, who transitioned from singing Reggae to Soca for the first time this year, with his sensational hit song “Brave”.

Among the 25 Soca Monarch Finalists are: Naphtali Duncan, Ozarie Matthews, Kamara ‘Keido’ Foster, Ryan ‘Royal’ Abraham, Chewalee Johnson, Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper and Kester ‘Flanka’ Chapman.

Keith ‘GrabbaFinnesse’ Charles is one of the new comers with his hit song “Madness.

All artistes are asked to attend a meeting at the Carnival Development Corporation’s office on June 13 at 4:00 pm. Representatives from the bands Kinetics and Vykinz are also asked to attend.

The Soca Monarch Semifinals would take place on Saturday June 24, 2017 at the E. T. Joshua tarmac at 6:00 pm. The event would take the form of a cooler fete. Each semifinalist would be given an appearance fee of $500.
