An unemployed disabled woman in Trinidad, who said she has been trying without success to get a disability grant for eight years, was on Monday convicted for possession of 14 grams of marijuana and fined TT$2,500.
According to the Trinidad Express, Michaeline Wall who was born with club feet, a deformity involving one foot or both feet said she planned to take the drugs for the pain in her feet.
Wall pleaded guilty when she appeared before San Fernando the Magistrate court and was given two months to pay the fine of TT$2,500, failure of which to do so will result in her having to serve 12 months in prison.
