The Director of the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) Dr. Carissa Etienne is in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for an official one week visit.

Dr. Etienne arrived in state yesterday and during her visit she will be hosted by the Minister and staff of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and will participate in several activities.

Today, she will pay courtesy calls on His Excellency the Governor General, Sir Frederick Ballantyne, and Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Hon. Luke Browne; visit the SMART Hospital in Georgetown, where she will plant a tree and engage in a news conference from 1:45pm; after which she will visit the Carib Community in Fancy.

Dr. Etienne will participate in the Pan American Health Organisation/ World health organization (PAHO/WHO) annual Sub-Regional Managers’ Meeting that takes place from tomorrow February 16th, to Friday, February 19th, at the National Insurance Services (NIS) Conference Facility, from 8:30am to 5:30pm, daily.

The Sub Regional Managers’ Meeting is designed to update Managers of PAHO/WHO on the organizational managerial structures and functions and also to discuss PAHO’s Programmatic and Inter-programmatic work at country and Sub regional levels.
