Lorenzo Mc-lean, a 24 year old Mechanic of Diamond was arrested and charged by the police on Thursday 17th October 2019 – with the offence of Motor Vehicular Manslaughter.

According to investigations – Mr. Mclean was at the time driving Motor Vehicle P-5849 when he caused the death of Josephine Robinson, a 45 years old Vendor of Diamond – as a result of reckless driving at Stubbs Public Road about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday 15th October

He appeared before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne Matthias at the Serious Offences Court in Kingstown, on Friday, charged that being the driver of P5849, he did cause the death of Josephine Robertson of Diamond by driving recklessly.

Robertson, a roast corn vendor, was reportedly picking soursop leaves at the side of the road near to where she operates her business when the vehicle struck her.

Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delpleshe did not object to bail.

The chief magistrate set bail atEC$25,000 with one surety.

Mc Lean was also ordered to surrender his travel documents and seek the permission of the court to leave the state.

His next court date has been set for January 13th 2020.
