The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard Service is reviewing plans to enhance its capacity to patrol this country’s territorial waters as well as improving its search and rescue operations.

That is according to Deputy Prime Minister, Sir Louis Straker, as he responded to a question in Parliament yesterday.

Sir Louis said the Coast Guard is in discussion with a US supplier for the possible purchase of larger vessel to complement its existing fleet.

Meanwhile, Sir Louis said the Coast Guard is continuing to advocate the use of Very High Frequency (VHF) communication by all seafarers.
