The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) has announced the names of the finalists for the 2017 Junior Calypso and Soca Competition scheduled for Tuesday July 4 at the Victoria Park.

The finalists in the JUNIOR CALYPSO – PRIMARY SCHOOL category are Kiara Hazel of Paradise Primary School, Bequia with the song “Grenadines”; Jontiel Burke of Paradise Primary School, Bequia-“Fishing Line”; Alavonel Lavia of Owia Government School-“Give me love”; Kaily Cyrus of C W Prescott Primary School-“My idol”.

Fidel Cyrus of Kingstown Anglican School-“Never too young”; Alexio Edwards of Gomea Methodist School-“Lifestyle disease”; Eto Gordon of Questelles Government School-“Playing de Mas” and Zakiyah Garrick of Kingstown Government School singing “Touch down at Argyle”.

The defending Monarch is Kristian Christopher of Layou Government School.

In the Secondary School category of the Junior Calypso the finalists are Damian Noel of St. Martin’s Secondary School with his son “Demand de plan”; Kristiana Christopher of Thomas Saunders Secondary with her song “From federation to fragmentation”; Abigail Alexander of Bishop’s College Kingstown, singing “Words of encouragement”.

Chachane Morgan of St. Vincent Girls High School with her song “Climate change”; Ladonna Free of West St. George Secondary, with her song ‘Violence in school”; Javid Baptiste of Sandy Bay Secondary School singing “Too much gun”; Keston Richardson of Sandy Bay Secondary School with the song “Liars”; and Daleann Nero of Sandy Bay Secondary School with his song “Save Sandy Bay”.

The defending Monarch is Tia Wyllie of Thomas Saunders Secondary.

Meanwhile, the Junior Soca Monarch Finalists are Tia Wyllie of Thomas Saunders Secondary-De Whole Place Mash Up; M’Riah Robertson of West St. George Secondary-Carnival; Omari Davy of New Prospect Primary-ICT Technology; Delisha Brackin of Sandy Bay Secondary School-Gimme Soca; Richard James of Belair Government School-ABC; Ariel Turtin of Greiggs Government School-Shake your Bumpa; Sakora Loraine of Sandy Bay Secondary School-We Playing Mas; and Delanzo Lavia of Sandy Bay Secondary School-Accident.

The defending Monarch is Kristiana Christopher of Thomas Saunders Secondary School.
