The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has officially opened the Town Hall facility at Calliaqua.

Addressing yesterday’s opening ceremony, Chief Engineer Mr. Brent Bailey, said the building measuring about 9,200 square feet will house several essential community services, including the Magistrate’s Court, Post Office, Day Care Center and Town Board Office, among others.

According to Mr. Bailey, Minors Construction Agency was contracted in 2008 to construct the Calliaqua Town Hall at a cost of 2.339 million EC dollars.

Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves in delivering the feature address described the Calliaqua Town Hall as a “top class facility.”

He said funding for construction of the Town Hall was provided by the Republic of China (Taiwan).
