Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says better care needs to be taken of furniture at schools across this country.

His comment in Parliament this morning comes in wake of what he said is a video being circulated on social media showing students of a school here, smashing the furniture at the end of a school term.

The Prime Minister said teachers, the Ministry of Education and parents need to properly address such acts of vandalism by school children.

Prime Minister Gonsalves said a lot of money is spent on school furniture on an annual basis.

He said when students damage or destroy school furniture at the end of one term, the Government is then expected to provide new furniture for the start of the new school term, and if this is not done the authorities are criticised.

Dr. Gonsalves is therefore appealing to students to display a better sense of responsibility by taking better care of the school furniture.
