The Prime Ministers of Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines yesterday signed a historic agreement which delimits the maritime boundary between their two countries.

According to the Barbados Advocate, the agreement is the result of several months of intensive discussions and is the first between Barbados and a member country of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

After the signing at Government Headquarters in Barbados, Prime Minister Stuart acknowledged that St. Vincent and the Grenadines is one of Barbados’ key strategic partners within the Caribbean region.

According to Prime Minister Stuart, the treaty signed is just a tangible demonstration of that commitment to closer regional integration and co-operation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said the agreement speaks to the excellent relations between the people of the two countries.
