The Bahamian government on Tuesday announced changes to the water sports industry that will lead to the recruitment of port enforcement officers, surveillance at beaches and sea patrols by members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force who will be on jet skis.
The measures follow an advisory issued last week by the US Embassy in Nassau in which employees are prohibited from using Jet Ski rentals in New Providence.

US citizens visiting The Bahamas were also advised against using the Jet Ski rentals in Nassau.

The additional measures being taken by the government follows a report that an American woman was allegedly raped by a man with a jet ski on a beach.
