Young people in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, who wish to purchase alcohol, will not be allowed to do so, unless a National Identification (ID) card is presented.

Nichola Evans, Director of the National Commission on Crime Prevention (NCCP) speaking during a panel discussion last week at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College campus at Villa, said her agency is moving to have this measure implemented in an effort to curb the selling of alcohol to minors and persons in uniform in this country.

Mrs. Evans said it is the responsibility of businesses to request the identification card of students who purchase alcohol at supermarkets.

Mrs. Evans said the Liquor License Act of St .Vincent and the Grenadines stipulates that persons who are caught selling intoxicating liquor to students will be fined, imprisoned and even have their liquor license revoked.
