The Ministry of Education is collaborating with the Department of Culture and the Garifuna Heritage Foundation to host a local history expo targeting Secondary School students.

The event will be held on Friday March 11th at Victoria Park under the theme “Know your history: Gate Way to the future, know your past”, and forms part of activities for the 4th International Garifuna Festival that will be held from March 8th-12th.

Senior Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, Aldia Dyer says the local history expo aims to motivate students to research the socio-economic, political and cultural history of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

She said students can present profiles of local historical figures who have made a significant contribution to this country’s development.

Mrs. Dyer says the event will also feature a photo gallery and food gallery.
