A group of 14 Vincentians left the state this morning Thursday July 9th 2015 for Caracas, Venezuela where they will undergo surgery to correct their vision.

They will be receiving treatment under the Miracle Mission – Eye Care Programme, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in April this year between the Governments of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Venezuela.

The group comprising 14 persons was pre-selected during the visit of a team of Venezuelan Medical experts in April, at which time persons were screened for cataract and pterygium (fleshy growth on the eye).

Prior to the departure of the group of Vincentians this morning, a ceremony was held at the VIP Lounge of the E. T. Joshua Airport, and heard remarks from Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, and Minister of Health, Clayton Burgin.
